Neck Pain
Neck pain is a very common symptom, with 10-15% of us suffering at any one time. Common causes include sustained neck positions, such as prolonged computer work or awkward sleeping positions.
There is no doubt that stressful working conditions can contribute to neck pain. Having had an injury to your neck in the past also increases your risk of neck pain. In the clinic we find that recurring neck pain is often caused by weak and out of condition muscles failing to protect the neck in everyday movements.
Our assessment approach in neck pain includes assessing joint movement, neck muscle strength, neck tenderness and head and neck movement control.
Our treatments for neck pain include mobilising stiff neck joints, strengthening weak muscles and retraining head and neck movement control.
All our treatments for neck pain are evidence based, meaning that they are based upon published research that demonstrates their effectiveness in neck pain.
